Webinar 1: Engaging patients in primary care, research, policy, and anything else that suits your fancy 

Learn the patient perspective on patient/community engaged research as well as ideas of how to get involved in all sorts of advocacy possibilities. Ned Norman and Maret Felzien, both members of the Community Advisory Council for the High Plains Research Network (HPRN), share their personal experience and adventures as patient advocates in primary care research.


Webinar 2: Merit Review Your role in research done differently

This webinar will provide the ins and outs of Merit Review, PCORI’s unique approach to reviewing proposals for funding. Become part of the solution. As part of “research done differently,” PCORI includes patients, clinicians, and other healthcare stakeholders in reviewing funding applications. Your voice can count. These reviewers are essential to helping PCORI fulfill its mission and to fund research that is both scientifically rigorous and truly patient centered. Find out how you can help PCORI review patient-centered research proposals. Kori Jones, a mentor and patient reviewer, and Dr. Jack Westfall, a physician reviewer, will share their experiences and answer your questions about PCORI’s Merit Review process. 


Webinar 3: Advocacy Engaging communities to help transform primary care

This is an introductory webinar for anyone interested in learning advocacy skills. The focus of the webinar will be on getting started in federal advocacy for primary care research. Hope Wittenberg, Director of Government Relations for the Council of Academic Family Medicine, will share skills for contacting your legislator and discuss key issues related to primary care research. Join us to find out what resources are available to you, including talking points to help you in your advocacy work.
