Abstract

Context: The Transformation In Practice Series (TIPS™) of modules developed by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) aims to help make preparing primary care teams for practice improvement faster and easier. Evaluation of practice improvement projects specifically using TIPS™ content has been limited. Objective: This pilot evaluation is assessing experience with and implementation of the AAFP TIPS™ module on Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM). Study Design: mixed-methods. Setting: Primary care practices. Population Studied: a sample of 3 practices that volunteered to participate and to use the AAFP TIPS™ CGM module to implement CGM into their practice and workflows, recruited from an AAFP newsletter announcement. Instrument: Stakeholder surveys and interviews (practice personnel including physicians and other clinicians, leadership, clinical, and administrative staff). Outcome Measures: Satisfaction with and perceived effectiveness and applicability of the TIPS™ CGM module, format, and materials (including course content and practice tools) to practice setting and staff, reported by descriptive statistics; themes and domains from rapid qualitative analysis of interview data. Expected Outcomes: The survey results and qualitative analysis will provide useful feedback on the actual process of using AAFP TIPS™ in practice improvement activities, related to AAFP TIPS™ in general and to the AAFP TIPS™ CGM module specifically. This will help guide development of future AAFP TIPS™ modules as well as potential refinement of content of the CGM module specifically.

Yes, CGM is the future. Now make it less costly for the large majority of patients who have low social deprivation! Thank you for sharing your work with NAPCRG!
