GIS Data
Geospatial One-Stop (GOS) is a geographic information system (GIS) portal that serves as a public gateway for improving access to geospatial information and data under the Geospatial One-Stop E-Government initiative. The portal is designed to facilitate communication and sharing of geographic data and resources to enhance government efficiency and improve citizen services by making it easier, faster and less expensive for all levels of government and the public to access geospatial information.
The portal is a catalog of geospatial information containing thousands of metadata records (information about the data) and links to live maps, features, and catalog services, downloadable data sets, images, clearinghouses, map files, and more. The metadata records were submitted to the portal by government agencies, individuals, and companies, or by harvesting the data from geospatial clearinghouses.
Use the GOS portal to:
- gain quick access to featured relevant data in the data categories and current events
- use search tools to access a wide variety of geographic information
- save your search criteria and maps
- apply a subscription service to selected areas
- view metadata
- interact with map services
- publish data and search for partners for data collections and acquisitions
The Geospatial Data Clearinghouse is a collection of over 250 spatial data servers that have digital geographic data primarily for use in Geographic Information Systems, image processing systems, and other modeling software. These data collections can be searched through a single interface based on their descriptions, or "metadata."
National Geospatial Data Clearinghouse
Data available from the GIS Data Depot site requires users to be proficient in GIS and may require access to GIS software. Numerous data holdings are available for free download, otherwise, data can be downloaded via our "Premium" option or written to CD-ROM.
Geography Network offers several ways to discover and access geographic data for use with your GIS software. Some data is available to download immediately or preview online while other data may be discovered from one of the Web-based sources referenced on the site.
The National Atlas allows users to find and create maps of the United States of America. Maps of innovation and vision that illustrate our changing nation. Maps that capture and depict the patterns, conditions, and trends of American life. Maps that supplement interesting articles. Maps that tell their own stories. Maps that cover all of the United States or just your area of interest. Maps that are accurate and reliable from more than 20 Federal organizations. Maps about America's people, heritage, and resources. Maps that will help you, your children, your colleagues, and your friends understand the United States and its place in the world.
National Atlas of the United States
The National Map site provides public access to high-quality, geospatial data and information from multiple partners to help support decision making by resource managers and the public. The National Map is the product of a consortium of Federal, State, and local partners who provide geospatial data to enhance America's ability to access, integrate, and apply geospatial data at global, national, and local scales. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is committed to meeting the Nation's needs for current base geographic data and maps.
